Fire Emblem: Awakening.
Fire Emblem: Awakening––released as Fire Emblem: Kakusei in Japan––is a Japanese tactical role-playing game for the Nintendo 3DS. Developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo it is the thirteenth game within the series and the sixth game to be released overseas. The game was released on April 19, 2012 in Japan, February 4, 2013 in North America, April 19, 2013 in Europe, and April 20, 2013 in Australia.
"As an inevitable war draws ever closer, you must stand with Chrom and his forces––knights, mages, archers, and more––commanding them against the armies of kingdoms, empires, and the dead themselves."
– North American box description
The game follows Chrom, the prince of the Halidom of Ylisse and captain of the Shepherds militia, who discovers an unconscious person––who's gender, name (default Robin), and appearance are all determined by the player––by the side of the road. When Robin wakes up he/she has no memory of who they are or how they got there. It is later discovered that Robin seems to have skill on the battlefield and for planning battle strategies. After helping Chrom and company protect a local town from Plegian bandits Chrom decides to make him/her a Shepherd where he/she then become the tactician for the army.
The game uses several elements which appeared in previous Fire Emblem titles, such as the ability to traverse the map––which was last seen in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones––and introduces a new combat system where units can pair up to defend/assist another unit when fighting. The game also allows you to use a customized avatar where you are able to select the gender, choose a name, create the appearance, and select the best and worst stat. Robin is an important character in the game's story, and your game will end if either Robin or Chrom dies.
